After School programming introduces girls to an array of scientific experiments and concepts with fun hands on activities. Our cirriculum is designed for girls ages 6 – 12 years old and based on ideals practiced in life skills programming.
Fall 2019 – Slime, Polymers & Soft Robots
Wednesdays – October 2 – November 20th, 2019
Thursdays – October 3 – November 28th, 2019
Let’s put those slimy materials to work!
In this 8-week session, students will learn about and experiment with synthetic and natural polymers. Upon completion of this session, students will have had an opportunity to make their own soft gripping robot powered by pneumatics.
Winter 2020 – Arduino Inventions
Wednesdays – January 8 – February 26th, 2020
Thursdays – January 9 – February 27th, 2020
Time to put simple computer code into action!
In this 8-week session, students will learn about and experiment with mechanics and engineering. Upon completion of this session, students will have had an opportunity to connect and control a servo motor using an Arduino Uno.
Students will be introduced to scientists, pioneers & inventors such as Hedy Lamar, Dr. Gladys West, and Simone Giertz.
Spring 2020 – Earth Science
Wednesdays – April 22 – June 10th, 2020
Thursdays – April 23 – June 11th, 2020
What is climate change? What are greenhouse gases?
In this 8-week session, students will learn about the chemicals that make up our atmosphere, the cycles that result in rain and the ground we stand on. Students will have an opportunity to create an invention using a simple solar or wind turbine electric circuit.
